By now you know that training in our iLoveKickboxingBayport.com classes is an awesome workout. You work up a sweat, release stress and have a blast with a great group of like minded people.
I love to see everyone in class working hard and having fun. It's even better when I see results of ugly fat lost and lean, toned muscles start to reshape a persons body. As an instructor/trainer it's the best part of my job.
When I see a student who really "gets it" and I see changes in that person, that's a great thing to be a part of. Something happens that is even bigger than the weight loss. Something you can't see on a scale or measure in inches lost. Something on the inside of that person starts to change. They walk a little taller and feel better about themselves and that confidence starts to radiate to all parts of their lives. It's a great thing to see.
It's something I want for all of my students. So here is the plain truth. You can bust your butt in my classes and feel great after training. But the fact is, if you go home and eat cheeseburgers and pizza and a bunch of other junk you are just wasting your time.
A healthy diet is critical to lead a healthy lifestyle and be successful with your exercise program. Regardless of your fitness goals, nutrition needs to be a core component.
Yes, you will still build muscle by hitting that bag and doing those lunges, but guess what? That muscle will be under a layer of body fat that will stay there until you start to change your eating habits.
If you are looking for success with the iLoveKickboxingBayport.com classes at Michael Pam's Black Belt Champions of Bayport you have to work all parts of that equation. Exercise + Nutritional Diet = Healthy Lifestyle.
The most basic and easy to follow plan for me has always been simple. I don't want to deal with measuring and weighing food and counting points or any of that other stuff. I'm too busy to deal with that and I'm sure you are too. I'm definitely NOT a fan of over processed prefab foods that come in a cardboard box that the food inside tastes exactly like.
So here's what I do and it is what I recommend to any one who asks me how to eat healthfully.
5-6 small meals a day. Obviously I am not talking Thanksgiving feast multiple times a day people.
A meal consists of a carb and a protein. 1 serving of each. That's it.
I add a vegetable to 2-3 of those meals a day to balance out my daily nutritional intake.
Some examples of a meal...
- sliced apple (carb) with all 2 Tablespoons all natural peanut butter (protein)
- non fat cottage cheese with some berries or other fruit mixed in
- banana with peanut butter.
- lean chicken breast with baked potato (add a small salad and you added your veggies)
This is just a quick sample of healthy, small "meals" that you can eat throughout your day.
I will be sure to add some other healthy recipes in the coming days as well as a list of healthy carbs and lean proteins.
It's really just basics. Obviously you should speak to your doctor or nutritionist to find specifics on what is best for you as I am neither a doctor nor nutritionist.
I hope this basic nutritional info combined with working hard in our iLoveKickboxingBayport.com classes will give you the results that you are looking for.
I look forward to hearing about your success in our program! See you in class soon!
